A standard at wedding receptions is to place wedding reception favors at each table. Essentially the goal is to give each guest a little gift to act as a memento and constantly remind all of the guests what a great wedding it was. But it can often be hard to come up with wedding reception favors that will work well with your guests and your budget.
You should never spend too much on favors, but you should not get really cheap little trinkets that won’t serve any use for the guests. So, here are some of the favors that have worked best in the past for my wedding planning.
Candles
The favor I have seen at the largest amount of weddings is that of the simple candle. Many hosts choose to just load a bunch of candles into a bunch of sacks, and set them at each person’s place at the tables. Afterwards, the guest can take the candle home and use it for whatever purpose it is needed. I have found that I almost never have to buy my own candles; I just attend more weddings to get more.
I used the candles for literally dozens of purposes. They are great for eliminating unpleasant odors or lighting small areas such as caves or closets. The best part about this wedding reception favor is its low cost and easy accessibility.
Mugs
Another popular wedding reception favor is mugs. I’ve seen this many times as well. Sometimes the host will purchase regular mugs for everyone that attends the reception, and fill each one with nuts or candy. This satisfies the short term desires of the guests. It will fill their cravings for candy, and provide them with a nice little mug to decorate the table or serve as a candy bowl.
Mugs are fairly inexpensive as well, and it will not bust your wallet to buy the necessary amount of mugs and fill them with treats. This idea might not be practical if you will be traveling for your wedding. Since mugs are fairly fragile, it can be hard to transport them without breaking a few.
Photos
If you decide to go a little more extravagant with your wedding reception favor ideas, you still have plenty of options. If you want to spend a little more money than you would on mugs or candles, you could also buy each guest a small frame with a picture of the recently wedded couple. Give them something that they can easily set on a side table or hang from a fridge.
Many of the guests will especially appreciate this, because your average person doesn’t have the time to get the picture in a frame and set up in their house. By doing the job for them, you will facilitate this process.
Thinking of wedding reception favors can be a fun but stressful job. Since you must come up with the perfect balance of practicality and tastefulness, you will often find yourself ripping out handfuls of hair trying to think of something. If none of the things I mentioned here sound like they would suit your needs, then search for web sites that supply favors. They might have more ideas, and best of all you can order from them if you find anything you like.
