For many brides and grooms the wedding ceremony is over almost before they realize it has started. For some the days leading up to the wedding may be a flurry of activities filled with last minute details. A wedding ceremony is an elaborate event that is often carefully orchestrated by the bride and groom or an event planner.
The guests may not realize the planning that went into creating the event because everything appears so seamless but there is often a great deal going on even at the last minute to create this illusion.
Last Minute Details
Setting up the reception space is one of the last minute wedding ceremony details which creates a great deal of stress for the couple or event planner. They want the reception room to look absolutely perfect but often this is one aspect of the preparations which the couple is not able to directly oversee.
Most wedding receptions immediately follow the ceremony making it impossible for the couple to see the reception area before the guests begin to arrive. In most cases the couple must leave these details up to the reception hall staff. One way to prepare for this situation is to meet with the event coordinator at the reception hall ahead of time to go over the details and explain how you would like the reception space to look.
Don’t Forget Flowers
Flowers also often fall into the category of last minute wedding ceremony details. If the couple plans on using real flowers for the ceremony and reception, they must arrive either on the day of the wedding or possibly one day before to ensure maximum freshness. Unlike favors which can be wrapped months in advance flowers are one detail which cannot be handled ahead of time.
One way to deal with this last minute detail is to assign a trusted family member to take care of dealing with the florist on the wedding day. Talk to them ahead of time about the plans and if possible have them accompany you on meetings with the florist to ensure they understand your ideas for the flowers.
Plan for Photos
Another wedding ceremony detail that is often overlooked is the amount of time the photographer needs to take pictures. This is important because the photographer may anticipate taking pictures at the bride’s house before the wedding. This can be a problem if the bride is planning to take care of last minute details and will not be dressing for the wedding until the last minute. Speak to the photographer ahead of time to discuss this so you will not be caught by surprise on the wedding day.
For many service providers the most important part of any wedding is when and how they will be paid. Although this typically happens behind the scenes and guests are usually not aware of list minute payments they are most likely a part of any wedding ceremony. Most service providers require a deposit prior to the wedding but expect payment in full on the wedding day.
Arrange a meeting with each service provider in the week before the wedding to determine the remaining balance and the acceptable payment methods. Next prepare an envelop for each provider with the remaining balance in the appropriate form and assign a trusted family member or friend the task of making sure everyone is paid on the wedding day.
