Natural flowers can look good but they are not for keepsakes. Very few types of flowers can be dried and stored for many years to come. The beauty of silk wedding flowers is that they remain as fresh looking when they come out for anniversaries as the day you walked down the aisle. The other great benefit of silk wedding flowers is that you can have any flower you like, even when it is out of season or not available in your area.
Not all flowers are created equal
An even more appealing aspect of silk flowers is that you can really mix and match flowers, which you cannot with natural flowers as they are out of season from each other. Likewise you have access to flowers native to other parts of the world, which are not available where you are in the world. If you choose your silk flowers carefully you can enhance the overall look of all of your wedding flower arrangements.
Silk flowers come in a variety of shapes and colors and can be bought in advance so that any other décor or wedding attire can be matched carefully. Silk flowers also lend themselves a lot more easily to the many different types of displays bouquets and centerpieces. Always try to purchase good quality silk flowers that are finished with a more natural look. And be adventurous. You can create beautiful arrangements, which you can simply not do with any natural flower combination.
What silk flowers look the best?
Roses are always a favorite variety of flower which is great for more traditional wedding bouquets. The types of silk wedding flowers you should consider are gerberas with their lovely long stems and beautiful long petals full of color and life. Silk gerberas are very pretty. Baby’s breadth can often look much better then the real thing in a bouquet.
Flowes which are too fragile even for a day look great for weddings. Sweet pea and daisies, fragile orchids all look fantastic as part of your wedding floral arrangements and bouquets. Gardenias, which are far too difficult to manipulate in a bouquet and the fragile flowers, make them ideal. Woody stemmed flowers such as lilacs and wisterias which you can never get other than as silk flowers are a great choice. Delicate jasmine flowers are also delightful and poppies.
One of my all time favorite silk flowers are the tulip. You can get a wonderful assortment of colors that are not available to you as a fresh stem. Tulips also have a tendency to wilt throughout the day and certainly won’t look good at the reception. And there is something also to be said about silk roses.
There is a lot more variety then those cut to last for the fresh flower florists. Tea Roses with their large heads and lovely delicate arrangements of petals are not available fresh but as silk flowers they look absolutely spectacular. You can also have your pick of flowers that tend to lose their color as soon as picked such as hydrangeas. Also available as silk flowers are magnolias and Peonies and beautiful violets. The variety of combinations is endless.
Ideal flower combinations
To make the best use of silk wedding flowers use them in unusual combinations which can not be created with fresh flowers. Some of the more lovely combinations include sweet pea and hydrangea in shades of dark burgundy. Lavender in shades of white, light and darker purples with coral roses are also a great combination.
Rose and Jasmine in cream shades are fantastic and allow you to add a color to match your bridal party or décor. Purple Lilac and lily of the valley make a wonderfully enchanting combination particularly for a garden or outdoor wedding. Orchids and roses are quite unusual but make an impact and will certainly be noticed by your guests. Any combination you choose will be delightful and keepsakes for you to treasure. That is the true beauty of silk flowers.
