Considering a Hawaii Wedding

A close variation of the Las Vegas wedding is the Hawaii wedding. The Hawaii wedding is also a different sort of wedding and escapes the boundaries of the traditional wedding helping to provide a very memorable experience. The big difference between the Hawaii wedding and the Las Vegas wedding is the fact that the Hawaii wedding is not so “spur of the moment.”

Unless you live in Hawaii, you have to fly awhile to Hawaii and it takes a little more planning and coordination. Also, if you have this type of wedding, don’t be surprised if most of the people you invite cannot make it because of the length and expense of the trip.

The big plus to the Hawaii wedding is that you will get married in a very beautiful tropical place with greenery, good food, the beach, and all other picturesque features commonly found in a tropical paradise. Plus, you don’t have to do much traveling to get to your honeymoon destination because as soon as you are married, you are there.

Finding the Right Wedding Spot in Hawaii

Of course there are different places to have a Hawaii wedding. There are also providers of wedding packages in Hawaii as well. A popular wedding location within the network of the Hawaiian islands is the island of Kuaui.

This is an island about 20 minutes by air from Honolulu. The wedding package providers advertise getting married on Kuaui like getting married in a tropical paradise among lush ferns or sparkling waterfalls. Even Elvis married Joan Blackman there once. They also advertise many wedding chapels there as well.

Weddings are not just held on Kauai. You can have your Hawaii wedding on Maui or any of the other Hawaiian Islands with the facilities to do so. All of the islands are in close proximity to each other. There are resorts and locations for weddings all throughout the network of islands. One web site even advertises that you can take helicopter rides to different islands.

All of us see the pictures in travel brochures advertising the Hawaii wedding. And of course, the weather is immaculate in each photograph. Especially beautiful is the wedding in the Hawaiian sunset. Those coming from outside of Hawaii have this mindset that the weather is always beautiful in Hawaii. But keep in mind that Hawaii has a tropical climate. How did it get that way? It got that way by rainfall. So there is a possibility that weather could affect your Hawaii wedding.

The Destination Wedding

The Hawaii wedding is what is called a “destination wedding” or a wedding where everyone (you and your guests) will have to travel to attend. This can be good in the sense that you maybe get away from people such as family you don’t want to see but it is bad in the sense that many of your friends and family could feel left out. Keep in mind that the general message relayed by a destination wedding is that the couple wants a small guest list either for financial or preferential reasons.

A suggestion to avoid this is to maybe have a wedding reception upon the couple’s return from the Hawaii wedding. At this homecoming reception the couple can show pictures or videos of their vacation and tell all of their friends and family about it. You as a couple know your family and friends and only you would know how well they would be open to this.

Conclusion

For the guests who are able to make it to your Hawaii wedding, it can be a very enjoyable and memorable experience for them as well. After the wedding they can go on a vacation of their own and leave at their leisure. One little suggestion: This is honeymoon time for you as a couple. If maybe you can find a resort that your guests don’t know about you will avoid having to spend your honeymoon with them. You will be glad you did.
