When you choose the design you’d like, ask your dressmaker what alternative fabrics you can use. Instead of a long lace train hand beaded with Swarovski crystals, go for a couple of lengths of beautiful, frothy tulle and have some sequins sewn in for sparkle. Have someone you know make it

They say it’s bad luck to sew your own wedding dress. Fair enough, but how about asking a close friend or family member to make it for you as your wedding gift? You can pay for all the materials needed, and have your friend or relative sew it free of charge. Choose a more bsic style

Instead of layers and layers of billowy material, cut costs by using less fabric and choosing a style that is less complicated to make. If you’re paying your seamstress by the hour, it’ll cost far less. If you’re paying her for the overall making of the dress, it’ll still be cheaper because it’s an easier design. Cheap wedding dresses are about being clever and not being suckered in by marketing gurus and the ‘special-at-any-cost’ game. With planning and by being smart, you’ll look every bit as radiant as any other bride without having to cry over the idea of wearing ‘glad rags’ to your wedding.
