In all of my years as a wedding planner and coordinator, I do not think any prospect has ever raised more excitement than when I recommend a friendly game of bridal shower bingo. For some reason, the bride and all of her guests become simply overjoyed at the thought of playing bingo.
Maybe they all just like the game a whole lot, or maybe there is a deeper meaning behind it. Maybe bridal shower bingo is a representation of the most romantic feelings in all of the guests and the bride.
Finding Bingo Equipment to Suit Your Needs
To get a game of bridal shower bingo set up, you will of course need the proper equipment and game supplies. If you have ever played bingo before, you know what exactly all of this entails. You need one of those handy ball jumbling machines to ensure that the choices are completely random. On top of that you need the balls which go into the machine to be jumbled. There are a large number of bingo balls generally, since one has to represent every square on a bingo board. Speaking of bingo boards, you will need those as well.
You can most likely obtain all of these things at your local craft store or game store. You can buy them all in one large set, or even rent them if you only planning on using them for one night. To buy them should not cost very much, and they will always come in handy in the future. Bridal shower bingo is not the only venue to play bingo, after all!
You might find yourself getting the urge to play at a later party, and you will be glad that you have all of the equipment from the bridal shower. Bingo equipment is meant to last for years and years. In fact, my grandma Opal has bingo equipment she claims to have purchased over 200 years ago.
Offering Prizes for Winners of Bingo Rounds
Bridal shower bingo is meant to be a fun, harmless game for the attendees of the shower. If you want to add a little competitive edge to the game then offer a few desirable prizes for the winner of each bingo round. You should never spend excessive amounts of money to get top quality prizes, but you definitely should not offer utter garbage to the winner.
I have found that if your group is mostly women, then a chocolate bar will provide all of the competitive behavior you could possibly want. Chocolate won’t set you back too far, and provides a great incentive for the players.
However, in my past attendance of bridal showers I have seen a few bridal shower bingo games get fairly heated. Two members of the game will begin to disagree about something, or even suspect each other of cheating. These small disagreements could end up as fist fights, and cause long term damage to the relationships of your guests.
So it might be a good idea to act as a sort of referee during the game. If you see two guests starting to argue, jump in there and correct things before it gets out of control. It is best to stop the problem before they start throwing punches.
