A beach wedding may seem like a romantic idea that is also very casual but often a great deal of work goes into planning a wedding on the beach. In some cases a beach wedding may be more difficult to plan than weddings in other indoor locations.
The reason for the increased difficulty is that a wedding on the beach or any outdoor location has the dilemma of having to deal with unknown weather conditions on the day of the wedding. In these cases creating contingency plans in the event of unfavorable weather is a worthwhile effort because it can save the wedding from being ruined by the weather.
Contingency Plans
A beach wedding which is being held on the private beach of an elegant resort often has a simple solution for dealing with inclement weather. Many couples opt for a wedding ceremony on the beach but hold the reception in one of the resorts ballrooms. In this scenario the couple may make arrangements to hold the ceremony as well as the reception in the ballroom if the weather does not cooperate.

This is usually a fairly simple plan because the ballroom is already booked for the reception. The couple can ensure availability of the ballroom by reserving the ballroom from the start of the ceremony until the end of the reception.
Couples who are planning a beach wedding that is not being held on the private beach of a resort can also make contingency plans to assure the wedding is not spoiled by uncooperative weather. One way to deal with this problem is to make arrangements with a nearby family member who has a home large enough to host the wedding. Have friends and family members available to decorate the home at a moment’s notice if the couple makes the decision to bring the ceremony indoors.
Tent Rentals
Making arrangements for a large tent can also be beneficial in a beach wedding. This can be useful for both protection from rain as well as providing shade to help keep the couple and their guests cool during hot weather. These large tents can be rented and are definitely a wise choice in the planning of an outdoor wedding.
These tents can include removable side panels which are useful in the event of driving rain which is approaching the tent at a slant. It is also beneficial when the sun is on the horizon and is casting shadows. These panels can be used to surround the entire tent or to act as rain and shade protection on one or more sides of the tent.
Couples planning a beach wedding should establish their contingency plan well in advance to ensure they are not caught by surprise. If the contingency plans are made before the invitations are mailed out the couple may wish to include these plans in the invitation so the guests are aware of last minute changes which may be made on the wedding day as a result of weather. This is helpful because it helps to avoid confusion when the couple opts for alternate plans on their wedding day.
Packing rain gear is also a good idea for couples planning a beach wedding. Storms can come unexpectedly on the beach and a bride who does not have proper rain gear may have her dress destroyed by a sudden storm. Packing a raincoat, umbrellas and a change of shoes can help to avoid this disaster.
